According to CATSA guidelines, medical kits must be carried by health care professionals.  Rounded or pointed scissors are only permitted when the blades (measured from the fulcrum) are 6 cm (2.4 in) or less in length.  At domestic/international (non-U.S.) scissors can be permitted over 6 cm if the passenger states they are medically necessary. Knives with a blade 6 cm (2.4 in) or less are permitted at Domestic and International (non-U.S.) checkpoints.    Important: Knives are not permitted at U.S. Transborder checkpoints.
